Nature
Nature is our biggest inspiration. Anything we can gather, forage and bring back into our homes, to remind us of our relationship with this great living beautiful intelligence and the intricacies of its cycles, forms and shapes are sparks for creativity. They also remind us of the sacredness of life.
Under the tutelage of Suzy Miyakota, our neighbour, we made smudge sticks using dried gum leaves, lavender, mugwort and other plants out of the garden. They were wound together with hemp string and had rose petals, crystals, frankincense resin and anything else you might want to add to them. The aroma of each burning stick was unique and more-ish! They cleanse and clear away negative energies and illness. Children love lighting them (with supervision) and creating their own sacred space.
